Ever wondered what Miles Davis sounded like before he lost his voice and developed he famous whispery rasp that we came to know him for??
First I’ve included a short (3 min 35) interview done in the mid 1980’s.
The actual interview starts at (3:36)
Miles Lost his voice in 1956 when he went against doctors orders and started shouting during an argument. He was told not to use his voice for 10 days after a throat operation. Its a Radio KXLW Broadcast from 1953 which would mean Miles had a serious heroin problem while this was being done (This might also explain why he was in his home town East St Louis) Miles would have been trying to get clean during this point until he finally kicked the drug in in 1954
